There is no real definition for the term Couchactivism. Yet. That’s why we made our own definition. Obviously you can divide the term into the two words „couch“ and „activism“. The couch does not only represent the furniture but also the feeling of comfort and being at home. Furthermore, activism describes the direct action in order to achieve a special goal. Most people think, you have to go outside, demonstrate or boycott something, in order to be active or an activist. But times change, don’t they? In our modern age, you have the possibility to be an activist no matter where you are. You can be out on the streets, but you can also be at home and sit on your lovely couch. Not only social media shows a way of telling people what you think and what you fight for. You can also do it with your friends, family members or flat mates. You can change something in the world from home. Isn’t that awesome? So, become a #CouchActivist and save our planet from home. It’s simple. In our blog posts, we will share new ideas about what to do and you can read all about being an activist from your couch.
Also, now during the COVID-19 phase, many people are stuck at home. Most people are bored and don’t know what to do with all that free time. Don’t let yourself think that your home becomes a prison cell, it’s rather a big forest where you can decide what is best for the environment. For example: Start eating less meat and food that was imported from other countries. Or you could grow your own plants in your garden, on your balcony or just on your window sill. You can try out to be a minimalist or start using Ecosia as your default browser to help plat trees. There is so much you can do right now, that will have a positive impact on our planet, so why not start now? Tell your friends about it and share your experiences with the world. Become a #CouchActivist.
